Bits and Chips
A downloadable game for Windows
This is an audio-only game with no visuals or graphics. It is meant to be played with text to speech feedback only.
Currently available: the full power of the editor and simulator, the first 8 of 30+ campaign levels, and the full sandbox mode. New levels get added weekly.
Bits and Chips is a computer-science puzzle game / logic circuit simulator hybrid. Place chips on a grid, wire them together, simulate them, and watch signals propagate. You start with a single primitive given to you: the NAND gate. From it, you eventually build a computer. The campaign is a fully planned tree of thirty-plus levels partially inspired by the popular "NAND to Tetris". Each level has you build new components that you can use to build the next and climb the abstraction ladder! You’ll eventually make a functioning CPU, memory, and more, all out of the NAND gate. If you like puzzle games where every solution becomes a tool for the next one, this game is for you.
There is also a sandbox mode where you can build whatever you want, save your circuits as reusable chips, and experiment freely.
Along the way, you will understand a lot about hardware, software, and if you wish to go down that path, optimization. If you manage to go through the eventual full progression, you may gain a new level of appreciation for your technology!
The core engine is the result of months of research and work that I enjoyed as much as I hope you will enjoy the game itself. It’s optimized to give you the ability to run massive circuits at Kilohertz and megahertz speed, which will pay off when we have the culmination levels down the line, and for your sandbox experimentation.
Not sure if it's for you? Try the free demo, featuring the first tutorial level, and see how it feels before buying.
Bits and Chips is in early access, and updates will come regularly as more levels are written and tested. Buying now directly funds development, and you get to buy the game for the lowest price it will ever be. Thank you!
The game is currently 40% off the planned 1.0 price. The price will increase gradually when the campaign reaches certain points, and again at full release.

having a problem when jaws is running, f3 and shift+f3 don't work unless you use the jaws key passthrough command insert+NumRow3 first, you have to do that before every keystroke.
